What is Somatic Pilates? Beginning with a contemporary Pilates style I integrate the principles and methods of Hanna Somatic muscle and fascia releases into a Somatic Pilates fusion.
By releasing the chronic tension patterns and resetting the resting state in the muscle tissue the client is then able to free up a larger range of motion by creating length in the muscles and recruiting more of the muscle fibers to access a more powerful and rewarding Pilates practice. Chronic muscle tension leads to over exertion and chronic fatigue of a continuously contracted muscle. This shortened muscle then begins to lose many of it’s neurological connections to the brain leading to sensory motor amnesia. Hanna Somatic methods are simple, pleasant exercises that once learned can be done at home to release the muscles, and with time reestablish the neurological connections within the muscle.
